It blew my mind what we got to do in films & ad’s. The stories I have & the work we got to do.
To me editing was about creating moments. You can grab the whole room with an edit and lead them anywhere. What I really love was the collaboration and how different viewpoints & life experience inform those moments. And then how to negotiate all of that.
For me filmmaking & editing was all about ideas. Lots of them. Good ones, weird ones, shit ones, simple ones. Some of the best ideas are so ludicrous they must be tried. As do the obvious ones which skittle the other 20 problems you’ve been having getting something to work. A good idea can come from anywhere. So can a bad one.
I use to have a bit here about name drop jobs & moments & the people I’ve met along the way. What a pleasure & privilege to have met & worked with all those talented & hardworking souls. Would consider an edit in very rare circumstances if it has risk, merit & appeal. No woke pysop bullshit here.
Love blues, folk, metal, & trip hop, anything with heart. Anything with piano. jazz, rap. Not a one trick pony as I can talk at length about tech, fast German saloon cars, the ins & outs of the global monetary system, mindset / self development and I know my way round a hammer & drill.
